In April 2014, African Revival was delighted to hand over a new classroom block and staff housing to Matondo Community School in Zambia. Construction had begun back in November 2013.

The new building contains two classrooms and a teachers office.

The handover ceremony was attended by the pupils as well as members of the community, who had provided some of the building materials for the project. Also in attendance were the District Education Board Secretary and the local Chief.

The new twin staff house means that Matondo Community School can apply for two more government trained teachers and provide accommodation for them and their families. This will go a long way to boosting the quality of education at the school.

The new classroom block not only provides two new classrooms, but also a teacher’s office with an in built strong room. This means the school can meet a government requirement of being able to safely store exam papers, a requirement for hosting grade 8 classes.

These new facilities will see the school gain status as a Government Basic School, which means it can apply for funds every term.

We handed over the classrooms with shelving and desks for pupils and teachers.

With the construction of the classroom block and the twin staff house Matondo Community School has reached a critical level in its overall development. With two new classrooms and two new teachers posted to the school by the government, Matondo can now become a thriving and conducive teaching and learning environment for both the pupils and teachers.
